Tuesday, Oct 27: Amazing Race Iwakuni. Be at Yujo Hall by 6:15. The race starts at 6:30 and we'll be all over the base. Don't be late or you won't be able to find us!

Friday, Nov 6: Club Beyond overnight retreat. Starts at Yujo Hall 6 PM, shifts over to the chapel around 10 PM, and goes all night long. We'll end around 6 AM on Saturday, then you can go home & get some sleep.

Saturday, Nov 14: BBQ & Sports Day. Come out to Penny Lake around 11:30, we'll have the fire going, burgers & dogs cooking. Get on a team for Earth Ball soccer, rock wall climbing, Sumo wrestling and more. Moms & dads, come out and say hi too. I hope to see more of you from time to time.

Saturday, Nov 21: Kintai photo walk. Bring your camera and get tips on photography from Real Professional Photographers. Bus leaves the chapel at 8 AM, and we should be back around 2:30. After your photo tips, take a ride up to the castle, get some goodies at the little village by the bridge, or just chill with your friends. Bring pocket money for food & admission.

Iwakuni teens! If you're in grades 7-12, we have something for you. We're getting ready to kick off a whole new year of activities just for you. Here's what's up:

We are John and Pen Letaw, the new directors of Club Beyond at Iwakuni. We look forward to joining this exciting and dynamic group of teens and we especially look forward to getting to know you and your families one by one. Feel free to say hi anytime. For the latest on the Schesser family as they go through iteration with Assembly of God, visit their new blog. Their plans are to return to Iwakuni in 2010 to pastor a church offbase, so we look forward to seeing them again before too long.

Here is Club Beyond’s schedule this week

Club Beyond will be held in the racquetball court at the gym this Tuesday from 7pm-8:45pm. We will play some wallyball and then have our Club talk.

Our Children’s Home Outreach went very well. Thank you to all the teens and adults that participated. I will have pictures posted soon.

The FLOW meets this Sunday at 6:30pm for a “Christmas” movie night. Please bring your favorite finger food or dessert. We will also say goodbye to Cory, one of our faithful leaders.

FCA is Tuesday at 1230 in Coach Anderson’s room. I will have pizza available for $1.25 a slice - you need to let me know if you want it. Thanks!

1. Club Beyond starts back up next week

Our Tuesday Club starts back up next week – we will meet in Yujo Hall at 7:00pm. As I have encouraged you before, please bring someone new. This is your opportunity to help share the faith with others. Have a great weekend!

2. Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The next FCA meeting is Nov. 18^th and it will be held in Coach Anderson’s room at 1230. Please talk with Heather Hyson to sign up and let her know you are attending.

3. Children’s Home Outreach

Our annual children’s home outreach will be held on Nov. 30^th. A local missionary will have the opportunity to share the gospel and Club Beyond will provide support for games and crafts. I have several signed up but please let me know if you are interested in attending.

4. The F.L.O.W.

Our Sunday night youth meeting will be held in the main sanctuary at 6:30pm. This is targeted at our Christian teens and Club on Tuesday is a good night to bring friends that don’t normally go to church.

5. Sunday Worship Team

Thanks to our teens that helped with worship on Sunday morning. You guys did a great job and I hope to see you up there again soon. God bless you for your service to him.

We had a great Club at the Bowling Center, thank you to everyone that showed up. We will be back in the main Chapel next Tuesday. I hope to have more Clubs around the base this year, so please keep an eye on my web calendar.

2. Fellowship of Christian Athletes

The first FCA meeting will take place next Tuesday. It will be held in Coach Anderson’s room at 1230. Please talk with Heather Hyson to sign up and let her know you are attending.

3. Parent Support Group

I would like to remind everyone that we are still looking for Parent Support Group members. The commitment is very low and you would mainly be supporting our fundraising efforts. Please contact me if you can spare just a few hours a year. Thank you!

On Sunday, I would like to invite high school and junior high youth and teens to be a part of the Sunday night group. We will run from 6:30pm to about 8:30pm and meet in the main Chapel. Everyone will stay together for the ice-breakers and music and then they will break up for small groups (HS and JH). Please feel free to forward this email to other youth or parents with junior high students.

*I am also willing to run TREK on Wednesday nights if we have enough JH youth interested.

2. Club Beyond on Tuesday

Our Yujo Hall Club room will be remodeled during the month of October and first week of November. Next week, we will meet in the main Chapel building’s fellowship hall, Capodanno Hall, at 7:00pm. Just enter through the main doors of the Chapel which are across from the skate park.

*Please let your parents know that we end at 8:45pm.

3. Fellowship of Christian Athletes

1. Junior High Parents

I would like to start a junior high Club JV soon but need input and support from you. I not only need a group of parents to give their support by showing interest in a Club JV program but to come up with the best night to meet. Please let me know if you would like to have this meeting for your junior high student.

2. Club Beyond on Tuesday

Club Beyond is a high energy faith based outreach meeting for high school teens that will run every Tuesday throughout the school year. We will start at 7:00pm and meet in Yujo Hall.

3. The F.L.O.W. (Time Change!)

Our Sunday night youth group will continue to run on Sundays nights, it now start at 6:30pm. We hope to have everyone home early to finish their homework they should have done. This meeting is designed for our Christian or churched teens but anyone is welcome to attend.

4. TREK for Junior High

Trek is a Bible study for students in grades 7 and 8. It will be held every Wednesday at 6:30pm in Yujo Hall. This will run in conjunction with the AWANA program but we will have a separate junior high class (TREK) designed just for them. Please email me to register your student.

1. Summer Program

We have officially transitioned to our summer program. What does that mean? Here it is…

Tuesday Club Beyond – this group will not meet again until next school year to give the leaders and teens a break and allow the teens to prepare for graduation and moving. I will take the extra time to prepare for the next year and recruit new leaders. This is usually a huge task. It was a great year and I will miss many of you.

Sunday night Youth Group – this group will continue to meet through the summer. I encourage all of those teens that have been in Club for two years to begin to attend this group or Dan Sanner’s Sunday morning Catholic group. Please email or call for more information.

Club JV – this group will also startup again in the new school year

TREK – this junior high group has finished for this school year. I would like to have a JH Bible study running through the summer but need input from the youth and parents.

We will have several summer events for the teens so please make sure your email address is current and keep an eye on my blog calendar.

2. Yuk Wars and Dinner

Without saying too much, Yuk Wars are messy games played outside between two teams. More information will follow but the tentative date for this is June 14^th. I would like to also have a dinner that night (after a shower) for the teens. I could use help from parents to prepare, cook and set up. Please let me know if you have time to do this. Thanks!

3. VBS for Junior High

Vacation Bible School will be held Aug 4^th-8^th. I will teach the junior high group and the theme is Friendship. I will let you know when signups start.

4. Young Life and Youth for Christ

I want to remind everyone that we now have a Junior High meeting before Club on Tuesday - The Junior High meets in Yujo Hall at 3:30pm and the high school at 7:00pm tomorrow.

I would like to announce the continuation of our Wednesday night junior high TREK Bible study. Starting May 13^th we will meet on Tuesdays from 1530 to 1630. The time fits nicely between Homework Club and when your parents get home from work. We will finish the TREK book from our Wednesday night group. Hope to see you there!

I have the results from Friendship Day along with a new Club JV Bible study.

1. Thank you to the parents and teens for your support of the Youth & Teen PSG Friendship Day fundraiser. With your generous donations and hard work, we were able to raise about $1400 toward our youth program. It was a successful event, thank you!

Our Friendship day fundraiser went very well and it was good to see so many teens out to support it. I have not counted yet but we made around $1300-$1400. I hope to order t-shirts for Club this month and then we can use the rest for our retreats later this year. Thank you to all the teens and parents that donated cake mixes and baked cakes. This was a huge help to our group.

Friendship Day Fundraiser

Here are a few updates on our fundraiser

I have 41 boxes of cakes in my office ready to be picked up. Please call my cell (080-3474-8856) or office (253-5183) before you stop by.

Please drop off your cakes at Yujo Hall, 1500 - 1700 this Sunday. If you need extra time, please call me on my cell.

If you would like to help work friendship day, I could still use help starting at 0700.

I am in need of anther canopy and some type of weights to hold two down. I will purchase these items if I don’t hear from anyone by tomorrow.

Club Beyond meets every Tuesday at 1900 in Yujo Hall

HS Sunday night service meets at 1830 in the main Sanctuary

2. Changes for Junior High programs

Trek is a Bible study held each Wednesday at 1845 in the Links Room of Yujo Hall. The Sunday Club JV Core Group will have some changes this week. We are looking at having a larger event once a month. Please keep an eye on my blog calendar for meeting dates and times.

3. Winter ski retreats

I am still working on the winter ski retreats. I am looking at February 15-17 for our high school retreat. Junior high may have a smaller event at the end of February. I will get the info out when I know more.

2. Club JV Core Group

Club JV now meets on Sunday nights and will be called Club JV Core Group. We will meet in Yujo Hall from 4:00pm - 5:30pm to get everyone home for dinner.

*Club JV has a Bible study that runs on Wednesday nights at 6:45pm. It is held in the Links Room of Yujo Hall.

4. New High School Study Sunday Nights

The teens and adult leaders are starting a new meeting on Sunday nights at 7:00pm in the main sanctuary. This new meeting will be for all teens but closer to a church youth group meeting. It will have a student led praise service with skits, dance performances and student testimonies.

*This week will have a potluck. Please bring your favorite food.

5. Christmas Outreach on Dec 15th

We will be helping a local missionary in their outreach to a local children’s home on Dec.15^th. I will be calling the youth this week to confirm attendance.

6. Christmas Party on Dec 18th

1. High School All-Nighter this Sunday

We will have an all-nighter this Sunday (11^th) starting at 1900. Food & drinks will be provided but you are encouraged to bring snacks. We will meet in Yujo Hall and go outside for a short time later in the evening (parents please call or email for details). We will finish up around 0600 on Monday morning.

Here are some of the things we will be doing: big group games, Halo 3 with multiple game systems, BBQ, S’mores, a surprise trip and most importantly a devotional.

Here are the things you need to bring: warm coat, snacks/food, $6-$10 (may not use it all), favorite board & card games. Please don’t bring any expensive item that might get broken or lost.

2. Club JV

Club JV now meets on Sunday nights and will be called Club JV Core Group. We will meet in Yujo Hall from 4:00pm - 5:30pm to get everyone home for dinner. We have also changed the program and will play more Christian music during our meetings. Hope to see everyone back with the new schedule.

4. The Schessers are Moving Off-Base

We have been asked to move off-base to free up our apartment on-base for military personnel. So……we will now be living in an apartment behind the Iwakuni train station. We hope to move most of our things this Saturday and be living in it this weekend. I will give out my number soon.

Club E-Update

1. Club Beyond

Next Tuesday (October 9^th) will be an outside theme Club. The students will be outside with our adult leaders for most of the Club night. We will come back together at the end of the event for Pizza. So please come to Club a little hungry. This would be a great night to invite friends. In case of rain, we will have an all-game-night inside. (Parents – please email if you need details)

2. Club JV

We will not have Club JV this coming Monday October 8^th due to the holiday. We will see you back on the 15^th. Have a great weekend!

3. Parent Support Group (PSG)

I would like to ask the parents to consider and pray about being part of our parent support group. We had three individuals start the group but we need more parents involved to make it successful this year. The primary roles of the group are to support the Club Beyond program by recruiting other parents, assisting in fundraising and supervision of the yearly calendar. We had a good first year of Club Beyond but need your help in year two to improve our retreats, Bible studies and fundraising events.

4. Need a parent (or two) to help with meals

I am looking for a parent or two to help organize (not cook) meals once a month for our Club meetings. I would like to get the support of families, organizations or maybe squadrons that would cook a meal once a month this school year. If we have enough volunteers, individuals/groups may only be asked to cook one time this year. The adult volunteer would need to submit requests to parents and other groups and help make sure the food is at Club. Thank you for your help.

It was great to see so many of you this week. Club JV was small because of the sports meeting at school but we still had a good time. Hope to see more of the junior high youth next week. The high school Club had a good start with 20 people showing up. We are going to change up the Clubs this year with two special Clubs each month...we will tell you more on Monday and Tuesday.

Club Beyond E-Update

1. “Beyond Clubs” this week

This Monday and Tuesday we will continue our talks on dating and relationships. Only three weeks left of our summer program.

2. Space World

The date has changed for our Space World Trip. We will be going August 15^th (Wednesday) and it will be for both junior and high school. Ault volunteers are needed and encouraged. Please check my blog this week for the trip packet and required waivers.

3. Club Beyond Start Date

Club and Club JV will be starting back up September 10^th & 11^th. Monday will be for 7^th & 8^th graders and Tuesday for 9^th – 12^th. Both run from 1900 to 2045 and are held in Yujo Hall. Please note that we are extending Clubs 15 minutes this year. The leaders and I will be looking at “Messy Game Wars” or lock-ins to start the year off right.

Summer Program

1. “Beyond Clubs” next week

This Monday and Tuesday we will start our summer meetings that will be called Beyond Club. These will not be our Club meetings with big group games but a focus on the Club talks. We will be studying at least three subjects over the summer: dating, best and worst songs of 2006 and evolution vs. creation. Meet in Yujo Hall at 7pm and signs will be up if we are meeting in one of the smaller rooms. It will be good to see everyone again.

*We will start off with the best and worst songs of 2006. This is usually two great nights of teaching. You don’t want to miss out - it will challenge you.

2. 8^th grade students not moving up to HS Club yet

I want to ask the 8^th graders that just graduated not to participate in our Tuesday meetings just yet. All of you will move up when school starts. On the other hand, graduated 6^th graders are allowed to participate in our Monday meetings now. Thank you for your patience!

*Club is on Tuesday and is for 9^th-12^th. Club JV is on Monday and is for 7^th & 8^th. Again, I will run Beyond Club and Beyond Club JV over the summer.

Baccalaureate Ceremony is June 8th

The baccalaureate ceremony is a student-led Christian farewell address given to the seniors before graduation. It will be held this Friday at 1700 in the main sanctuary of the Station Chapel. Ch James Johnson has been chosen by the seniors to share a message and all are welcome and encouraged to attend and support our MC Perry graduates.

The ski trip with the high school guys went great. We did get lost going up and had both good and bad directions given to us. The food at the ski house was incredible and the Japanese lady running it was great. We had a really good time on the slopes and no one got "really" hurt. I have posted some pics here.

Junior High (Club JV) Service Project Meeting

A mandatory meeting for all junior high youth going on the service project is scheduled for next Monday Dec 4th at 1745 in Yujo Hall. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Clubs Next Week
M.C. Perry’s fall solo and ensemble night will be held next Tuesday so I would like to invite all the high school to Club JV on Monday for combined Clubs. Do to so many teens being involved in the solo and ensemble night, Club will not meet on Tuesday. I will be attending the school’s event on Tuesday night.

Special Movie Showing Postponed
I was unable to get a time next Tuesday for a special movie showing. I will look for another date to do this. Don’t show up at the theater on Tuesday!

Thursday Morning E-Faith for HS Students
The high school E Faith Bible study will meet Thursday mornings from 0700-0730 in the Chapel conference room. We are looking for parents to support this event by providing breakfast food; please email me if you can help. This will be a weekly Bible study.

Junior High Service Project
Club JV will take part in a Chapel service project on December 9th. We will be reaching out to children and youth at a local orphanage by having games and crafts. There will be a wrapping party on November 29th or December 6th (should know soon) to prepare gift bags. I will hand out a flyer next Monday at the combined Clubs.

Ch Johnson has asked Club Beyond to perform a Christmas skit on December 15th at the Chapel’s Christmas Concert. I will be recruiting youth and teens for this skit and will also have a flyer out next Monday for everyone to take home. Email or call if you are interested in being a part.

Upcoming Events
I am currently working on winter retreats for both Club and Club JV. These will be three days and to nights in January or February.
I am also working on a missions trip/service project for the high school. This will take place before March.
We will have our Club and Club JV Christmas parties on the week of Dec 11th or Dec 18th.
